Technium OpTIC - Polymer Analyst/Technician
Optropreneurs Limited is a private sector company who run the OpTIC facility comprising a Technology Centre, Incubation Units and a Business Centre. OpTIC is designed to support both established and new organisations working with and developing dynamic new technologies.
Polymer Analyst/Technician
Applications are invited from those with a degree, higher degree or relevant industrial experience in the polymer field for post as Polymer Analyst/Technician. Preferred backgrounds are chemistry, material science, physics or chemical engineering. A senior level appointment will require independent leadership capabilities. Training will be provided at the junior level.
Approximate Salary: Dependant on experience and qualifications.

Solve Metrology - Marketing and Communication Manager
Driven successful professional person required for new start up high technology company. The new company will be supporting aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, antenna manufacturing, nuclear and heavy industry. Will report directly to Nicolas Tanala and responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communication plans and strategies on a global scale.
He or she will be responsible for the:
- Development and optimization of our competitive position through creation and augmentation of the marketing and communication tools (i.e. internet, catalogues, trade shows, etc),
- Identification of new product, customer and territory opportunities,
- Competitive market analyses,
- Develop and implement the marketing mix,
- Some daily clerical duty may be required.
The Marketing and Communication Manager will have the following profile:
- University degree in Marketing Communication with several years of experience and a strong engineering bias.
- Project management track record within an international industrial environment,
- Proven track record in executing competitive and market analyses,
- Familiarity with internet technologies and computer systems
Ideally based in North Wales and hold full clean

CSER PhD Studentship (Photovoltaics) at Technium OpTIC
Centre for Solar Energy Research (CSER):

CSER is the management hub of the SUPERGEN consortium "Photovoltaic Materials for the 21st Century" (PV21), with more than 20 years combined experience in photovoltaic (PV) and metal-organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD).
PhD Studentship - Photovoltaics - Thin Film PV Solar Cells
PhD studentship from the
The consortium’s researchers are working on thin film semiconductor-based solar cells using materials such as silicon, cadmium telluride and copper indium di-selenide. The aim is to reduce the cost (£/Wp) of at least one class of solar cells by 50%, and research is focusing on the physics and chemistry that is most likely to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Various avenues can be employed to improve cell efficiencies from light trapping (extending the amount of sunlight converted to electricity), device and grains engineering.
The offered studentship is an exciting project, funded for 3 ½ years, to explore novel ways of increasing photon capture for various thin film PV technologies. The dynamic team at CSER has a unique capability to research high quality materials by MOCVD techniques (achieving high cell efficiencies). Various other deposition techniques will also be available for achieving the student’s goals. Extensive equipment capabilities will be available for characterisation. Technium OpTIC, based in North Wales, is part of the WAG Technium initiative to create a network of business incubation centres throughout Wales. The concept is to build new and successful businesses using co-located resources of Technology, Business, and Incubation Centres.
The OpTIC Technology Centre is fast becoming a major force in technology transfer of next generation optoelectronic solutions to internal and external clients. It is majoring in optoelectronic materials, thin films, surface structuring, and optical packaging.
The OpTIC facility is run by Optropreneurs Limited, a private sector company, who are currently seeking the following self-motivated individuals to strengthen the sales, technology and incubation teams.
Technical Sales Manager
Responsible for identifying sales opportunities and winning business for the OpTIC Technology Centre, this position is key to the development and growth of the capabilities within the OpTIC’s centres of expertise. The successful candidate will be an experienced manager with a firm technical and commercial background and proven track record in the opto-electronics industry.
Technology Manager
Working with the internal and external client base to provide commercial programme management, ensuring that Technology Centre contracts are delivered to specification, quality, cost and time. A proven track record in a similar role is essential.
